A water canteen of some kind is generally a must-have for camping. If you're going hiking or you're going to wander away from the campsite, there is always a risk that you may get lost. If you're carrying enough supplies of water on you, it will keep you alive for several days at a minimum, and it will prevent dehydration, which can sap your strength and stop you from finding your way back to the camp. It also keeps you from having to drink water from streams, which can be contaminated or have nasty critters in it that can give you diarrhea or worse.
A couple of the better water canteens for camping:

Camelbak Hydration Pack - This is basically a backpack that you use to store water in. It's made for longer trips away from the camp, so if you're going mainly to hike you should think about getting this - especially if you're in a warmer climate or if you're camping during the summer. It stores three liters worth of water, and it's also got pockets for other stuff that you want to take with you as well. You can get it here online. |

Coleman Insulated Nylon Sport Canteen - This is a cheaper version that you can carry on your shoulder using the strap. It's a modern canteen, insulated to keep the contents cold, and with a push/pull spout. This is good for shorter hikes or carrying water in case of an emergency. You can get it online here. |

Camo Desert Water Canteen - A little less practical, but it looks cool. It holds two quarts of liquid, and it's pretty cheap. It might not be enough if you're going on a longer hike, though. You can get it online here. |

Military Water Canteens - This is for if you want something traditional - it's a commercial canteen similarly to what has traditionally been used in military conflicts. It uses cotton to insulate the canteen, and there's a belt to attach it to. You can get it online here. |
