What's the best Nordic walking pole?

Nordic walking poles are a special version that are designed to make it HARDER for you to walk. Keep that in mind when you're buying one - there are basically two different versions. Normal walking poles are made to keep things easier, and they're good for people worried about the damage that the shock of walking can cause to your knees, especially on the kind of rough terrain you encounter when hiking. Nordic walking poles are something different entirely - they are for people who want to get a better workout, and they force you to put more force onto the poles and get a better aerobic workout that affects more parts of your body. They do produce less shock and stress on the body, but they're not really made for hiking, they're more for walking on flat land. If you're going to stick to a trail and are concerned about exercise, these could be for you.

LEKI Nordic Walking Poles - LEKI is a company that makes some of the higher quality nordic poles. These are NOT adjustable, so you're going to have to order to your height. Many of the higher quality ones are like this. The tips are designed to work best on paved surfaces, but they also work on all terrains. They costs around $75 and are available online here.

KEYTZ Nordic Walking Fitness Poles - They are a good one for people who aren't really sure whether walking with poles is for them. If you've never tried it before, it might be a better idea to start out with the less expensive, lower quality ones just to see what it's like. These are designed beginners - they're adjustable, so you can set them to your height. They come with a carrying bag, and they've also got little things to fit on the end for walking on pavement or in the snow. They aren't the highest quality, but they are probably better than most of the others in their price range. They cost about $40 and are available online here.

LEKI Speed Pacer T2 Nordic Walking Poles (110 cm) - Just as an initial notice, make sure you get the right height for you, because these higher-end poles come in several sizes and don't adjust that much - only within a 10 cm range. There are several other ranges available. They've got a good grip system so that your hand is basically strapped to it, making it harder to slip. They work on any terrain. The other thing I like is that they include an instructional video to show you how to use them to get the best workout. They are a little expensive though - around $170, and you can get them online here.
