What is MicroPur?
MicroPur is a kind of water purification tablet made by Katadyn, a swiss company that has been making water filters for camping for a long time. They are kind of unique in terms of water purification tablets - most other brands use chlorine or iodine, but these rely on silver ions. It's a system that kills bacteria, protozoa, and viruses - the viruses being the most important, because other tablets and even filters usually can't do anything about them. They also are much better on the taste front - there is usually no residual taste from them. The big disadvantage (though it applies to all tablets) is that you can only use them on clear water unless you've got a water filter. Otherwise you risk drinking larger pieces of junk, larva of critters, etc.
