You should have a chore-list of things to do every evening before you go to bed. Some of these are to keep dangers such as bears away - others just make sure you'll have an enjoyable morning.
1) Store the food. This is one of the most important - bear attacks are caused by people leaving out food or food scraps which attract wild animals. If you're lucky, it will be something less dangerous - but then you still lose your food. Use a bear canister if you've got one, otherwise read the bear attacks page on how to "bear-bag" your food in a tree.
2) Wash your dishes. Remnants of your dinner will be on them - that means the smell of food. See #1.
3) Do a check on your tents to make sure they are properly tied down. This should be done every night, because sometimes you need to re-stake the tent because the ropes have loosened. If you don't do this, you're at risk of having a storm knock down the tent on top of you.
4) Get your water ready for the morning. If you need more, go get some now instead of waiting until the morning.
5) Put away any small items around the camp - anything that can be blown away or picked up by an animal or bird needs to be put into a container.
6) Get your flashlights ready in case anyone needs to use the restroom or you have a sudden emergency that requires you to leave the tent. I'd have one at the tent entrance, and if you've got more than one keep one near your sleeping bag.
7) Sleeping in clothes that aren't going to give you pneumonia if you have to leave the tent at night for some reason is probably a good idea. If you're ready to get up if necessary (to put the tent back up if it collapses, drive away raccoons, or whatever) then you can deal with any problems that arise more quickly.
