A camp kitchen is a portable area for food preparation - they vary in terms of what they've got in them, but generally a sink, a flat surface to prepare food on, and places to store all your cooking utensils and hang dishes to dry. Most of the time they don't come with a camp stove, so keep that in mind - you can get those separately, but a lot of camp kitchens have places to attach them. Just be sure that whatever one you get, you run through a checklist before you actually go. It might even be a good idea to open it up in your real kitchen - see anything missing? If so, be sure to bring it or to get the necessary accessories. Here are a few of the better ones (remember that they don't come with any of the utensils):

Coleman Portable Camp Kitchen - A very good brand - note first that it doesn't come with the stove, but it's got a slot where you can fit most Coleman stove and possibly another brand. It's got an aluminum frame, so it's not that heavy - 40 pounds or so. That's pretty good for the size that it expands out to, and it folds up to compress it when you're transporting it. It comes with a removable sink, a flat area to prepare food, and various little hooks and shelves to put stuff on. It costs about $180 and is available online here. |

GSI Outdoors Gourmet Camping Kitchens- This one has cutting boards that you can detach and remove, a double sink which is good because you can wash and then rinse dishes, a drying rack, and a lot of different places to hang various things. It also has a pressurized faucet so you can actually wash water onto things. It weighs about 35 pounds and is pretty portable. It costs about $140 and is available online here. |
